QUARANTINE PROFILE: Miki Ratsula
We’ve launch a profile series to highlight how artists are spending their time during quarantine. Several times a week we’ll highlight a new artist across the globe and see how they’re keeping busy during COVID-19 lockdowns.
We’re excited to chat with Miki Ratsula about what they’ve been up to during lockdown. Miki brings a different perspective to writing by re-examining the heteronormative look on love songs and giving them a realistic lens and focus on LGBTQ+ relationships. Miki has been around on the interwebs for quite some time with their YouTube videos dating back to the high school years and now evolving into the beautiful alt-pop / R&B vibe they are today.

How have you been staying busy during quarantine?
I’m either working in my studio, cooking or playing xbox. The best combination.
What’s something new you’ve cooked/baked?
I cooked ramen for the first time! It made our whole house smell so good. I did make the mistake of making it when it was 85 degrees outside - wasn’t the best idea.
Go to quarantine snack:
Depending on the day I’ve been going back and forth between ice cream and carrots & hummus.
Album you’ve had on repeat:
Honne’s Love Me/Love Me Not album!
What’s a song that is your go to comfort jam?
Anytime I need a pick-me-up I always blast Still Woozy. It just makes me wanna dance all my sadness away.
If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of time what would it be?
Ooo - Atypical FOR SURE. Casey and Izzie melt my heart.
What is keeping you happy?
My girlfriend. She’s my rock. So lucky we live together and are able to get through this time alongside each other.
What‘s something you miss the most right now?
Performing, the movies and the gym!
What do you hope we take away from this?
I really hope we learn to have more empathy for one another.
