QUARANTINE PROFILE: Jordan Mackampa
We’ve recently launch a new profile series to highlight how artists are spending their time during quarantine. Several times a week we’ll have a new artist featured telling us what they’re up to and what new things they have in store.
You may have been hearing about the newest dream of an album, Foreigner by Jordan Mackampa. Jordan’s debut album dropped on March 13th, just in time for quarantine. Despite the lockdown and many of his exciting world tour plans cancelled for the time being (which we are still trying to accept), he’s been busy playing some soothing live stream concerts from his bedroom in South London. Jordan is one of the sweetest souls and smoothest voices we’ve encountered and we’re super excited to bring you his Quarantine Profile.

Where have you been spending your quarantine?
In my South London flat, catching up on sleep mainly, as wells trying not to force myself into productivity because of this situation we’re all in - I spend the majority of my time on average doing something, so I’m taking advantage of the fact that I don’t have to do anything at all if I choose!
How have you been staying busy during quarantine?
I’ve been getting back into baking & reading. I used to be a chef so cooking/baking is like second nature for me, I bake most of my desserts blind - thank God for muscle memory right!
Anything new you’ve learned?
How to take better care of my plants! I’m a Taurus, so Earth Signs naturally gravitate to things that need looking after and designing. I’ve also learnt how to give myself a haircut too.
Album you’ve had on repeat:
The latest SIR album has been on for me lot, George Ogilvie dropped a stunner of a debut record a few weeks back, which I highly recommend everyone checks out.
What’s your go to song to make you feel less alone? / What’s a song that is your go to comfort jam?
To feel less alone, ’Searching For A Feeling’ by Thirdstory. My comfort jam is ‘BMO’ by Ari Lennox - what a woman!
If you could only watch one film or TV show for the rest of time what would it be?
Brooklyn Nine Nine or Queer Eye.
What’s the best advice you’ve received during this time?
‘There’s no manual on how to deal with a pandemic, do what’s best for you to make you feel ok”
What do you hope we take away from this?
How precious time is, even though we have lots of it, don’t waste it.
